Hy everybody,

i have been searching the Forum, and i also took
looks around the Home-Page.
Nowhere i can find a minimum Hardware Indication.
Since i can not just always download and then try
and find out i am underfurnished, is it possible,
to add some small list at the Home page ??

It will help people alot, i think.

Thanks in advance,

Hi and welcome to the forum,

the problem with minimal system requirements is: we don't know them :)
It doesn't require a lot of power and it should run on any system that isn't ancient by now. Your Pentium 4 should be okay (I assume you are the same person who asked on IRC, be more patient the next time ;) ) and the game also works on smaller Intel graphic cards.
So just go ahead and try it and please report back if it works or not, so we can create a list of minimal system requirements.

I hope its not to late, but please use this installer:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3473245/sw/Sumwars-0.5.6b-windows-installer.exe

It has a few bugs fixed.

Howdy,

first of all, thank you for the information so far.
Then thanx for the link, but i do intend to use my
Kubuntu, as for the past 6 month i did nothing else :D
I have become a big fan of this system, so excuse me
for saying so, but its fun, interesting and every day a
new thing to explore.....

But, well, i will try with the information now,
and yes, i will also report ;)

So far,  thnx again,

hello again,

after yesterdays conference in IRC, i did try to
get the lates stable CEGUI. But when i do
./configure
make
sudo make install
nothing changes in/usr/lib/
The 0.7.5 library files are still there and nothing
to see from 0.7.6.
Is there something i didnt do right?

regards,
agast2

EDIT:
Ok, found out, that it installs into: /usr/local/...
and so on. Bending the Path-variables for cmake
to point there, i do at least get a picture, which
than makes my machine hang. I 'll keep trying..

hello fusion44,
thnx for the link and the package.
I did download it, and send it to my best friend,
who is :
a) a pure Win**** user,  adn
b) quite a fan of good games.
Unfortunately, after installing and try to start,
it just gave him an debugger message and a
black screen as he told me .
Now, going back to the Build section of wiki,
i can not find any notice, how to get win usable
stuff for all these dependencies. Is there something
that i did not read, or is all the ogre, cegui and stuff
supposed to be in the installer already ?

Thank you for more information at forehand,
best regards

Hello all,

so now here my latest progress:
on my Kubuntu 12.04  LTS:
i did manage to bring the CEGUI 0.7.6 to live,
after being stunned that the files where not placed
to the lib folder in usr, i finally found them in
/usr/local/lib and so on.
Bending the path to those files in the ccmake,
running all that make, sudo make install   stuff again
i get a picture, which seems to be startup-screen of
sumwars. Only thing is, than my machine hangs up.
So i can supply screen-shots.
I did some steps again and it comes out, that there still is
some trouble while compiling.
Some pictures in attachment show the errors.
Is there a solution to prevent this errors ?

Ahh, it also happend, that the screen-picture was by far to large
for the screen here. Then i did remebeer, that on IRC someone shot
the tip, to set an option: sumwars_no_fullscreen  to ON,
i did, i let all the configure, make, sudo make install    again,
and then i do get a fullscreen-sized window, but the picture is still
cut-off at the right side after the r of WAR.

Thx in advance,
regards

Hi agast,

thank you for not giving up :D

Do you have Teamviewer and would you let me take a look at it?
If not please post the ogre.log from your ~/.sumwars folder.

EDIT:
It comes out, that even after make clean and a new try to
configure and so on, it still stumbles over the main-gui.
Is there a way to remove the previously installed sumwars,
so i can do from the scratch? sudo make install will not do,
ther is no uninstall rule defined.

From your ogre.log:

14:00:26: OGRE EXCEPTION(7:InternalErrorException): Could not load dynamic library /RenderSystem_GL.  System Error: /RenderSystem_GL.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in DynLib::load at /build/buildd/ogre-1.7.4/OgreMain/src/OgreDynLib.cpp (line 91)

This basically that your plugins.cfg is wrong. Please post the contents. Please try and find RenderSystem_GL.so.
It should be in a Plugins folder where Ogre is installed. Then change the plugins.cfg file to point to this directory.
I think it should work then.

Hy fusion44,

now i do get a start-picture, aroung 3/4 hight of the screen,
Text is
Summ
War
rest invisible, and the lower quarter of the screen show some
like green folder tabs.
Mouse jumps shortly after start to top-left,
When try to move it, screen freezes.
I think, there's more wrong than that.

And what i still do not understand, how to get rid of those
three messages while running make ??
Is it really without any meaning ??

But i also think that by now i have taken by far too much time
from u guys. I will retreat from this software, until i can get
my hands and time on a new machine, where only make will not keep
the box busy for half an hour and still come up with errors.
By then i will shure also try with a different Distro, even tho
i have no ohter one found, which makes wine run right away.

So for now thank you fusion44 and every one else who honestly
did try help me make this work.

Thnx a lot and best regards,

agast2

Hello everybody,

finally i did take the decision, to get me a new machine.
Now with an clean installed Kubuntu 12.04 and going two times trough the
installation instructions, doing it all twice from the scratch,
i have to say:
Thank you all here, for the much of effort you have put into that game.
I can now start it and it will really run.
only thing i still have to figure ot is, why after clicking Save and Exit
the nice "loading screen" with the map remains and the music keep
playing. i must kill it, to make them disappear.
But this is not a big deal, at least i can start to explore the game.

So as form my end, i can tell:
P4 -2,66GHz single Core,
1Gb Ram
Geforce GFx 5200
and
Kubuntu 12.04
will defenitely NOT be enough, to make it go.

For now, i am off, exploring ;)

Thnx again and bye

Hi agast2, thank you for the input.

I just hope there are no driver issues, as those have made powerful hardware configurations to behave badly too.

Hy dezGusty,

let me add an update at this point:
my actual Hardware:
I7-3770K CPU
4GB Ram
1TB Harddisk
GTX 580 Graphic Card
Kubuntu 12.04 LTS installed on
 a fresh-clean partition

Standard PS2-keyboard
Wireless USB Mouse

Gameplay:
Game starts, can be played, can be saved and exits correctly
during Gameplay various prblems with mouse movement,
maybe related to fact of wireless, WILL BE CHECKED!
How does it effect:
during moving mouse, it stops somewhere on the screen for
x-msec. until x-secs. then suddenly jumps to the destination.

Since i am NOT a fan of wired devices, i would hate to get one
on my desk again, so i´ll try to find another way.
Updates to come soon.

AHHH, preinstalled Win****7 Version on the same machine,
just download stable .zip version, unpacked, start sumwars.exe
will tell missing installations like Java, in my case.
After installing and calling exe again, runs smooth, even mouse
actions, without having changed anything at HW.

regards
