Programming / Re: Doxygen Docs.
« on: May 23, 2014, 04:45:48 PM »
This is a problem I still have to tackle! Currently there is no step using make. I have to adjust the cmake file.
You can run it manually by running doxygen in the "yoursumwarsfolder/docs/doxygen" folder.

But be aware the most comments are still in German language. I have started translating some of the comments but couldn't get very far.
I'll devote some hours to translating the comments this weekend. Should have done that a long time ago already.

Hey SurpriseBoy,

does this problem still persist or is it solved with the other problem in the help thread?

Hi roterstern!

I assume you use the latest version (0.5.8)? I have never heard of this problem before. Can you send me the affected savegame and the log files?
You can find them in the .sumwars folder.

I don't think a simple translation will be the right thing. The documents should be "wikified". Its easier to work with and keep up to date. I actually don't know if those documents are still up to date, but many things that deal with gameplay and story haven't changed much and should still be up to date.

If you want you can of course start translating the documents. If you have any questions or need some clarifications, just ask me :-)
I'll go on with translating the source code comments from this issue:

bonjour et bienvenue :-)

Thank you for stopping by and helping us out! I hoped to get more people involved with the project with this release and now it starts to show first signs of success!
Mageia is the first distribution that will include CEGUI 0.8 and Sumwars then. Yay!

General Discussion / Re: Version 0.5.8 Released

All screenshots we have now are not very good. I'd like to take some screenshots during a multiplayer session. If anyone has time in the near future, I'd like to host a session.

Help / Re: [Solved] OGRE can't locate SWB.scheme (Mageia)

Sumwars was checked during the Fedora package review and they've found nothing problematic. Otherwise, our license policy is quite strict:

At some point I'll do a cleanup of our repository since we have many redundant things still in there. For example the tools directory could be deleted as none of them are used anymore

General Discussion / Version 0.5.8 Released

The Summoning Wars team is proud to announce the release of version 0.5.8! Get it from our downloads page. This release includes mostly changes to the underlying framework and some bugfixes. Additionally, most problems which were uncovered by the coverity static analysis tool were fixed by dezgusty. This version will not work with CEGUI 0.7 anymore. Linux users will have to compile CEGUI themselves, if the distribution does not provide packages for this version.

new feature: Poco dependency replaced with Boost
new feature: Sound engine reworked
new feature: Added sounds for the GUI
new feature: Added gameplay sounds
new feature: Added support for CEGUI 0.8
new feature: Added support for Ogre 1.9
new feature: Added support for Lua 5.2
translation: Spanish translation finished
fixed bug: Labels displayed twice
fixed bug: Black screen in main menu
fixed bug: Issues compiling in Ubuntu
fixed bug: Error in `/usr/bin/sumwars': free(): invalid pointer
fixed bug: Plugins dir not found on bodhi linux

The editor took a lot of steps forward. Recently we have completed the NPC rendering in our editor. Saving and editing still has to be implemented.

We still search for people willing to help move this project forward. If you have some free time and want to help our project, do not hesitate to join our forums and introduce yourself. We are searching for contributors in all areas. If you are a MAC or Linux user, please consider helping us out as a platform maintainer.

We now use Weblate, which is an awesome free tool to translate projects. If you are interested in helping translating, you can do it here:

Glad to hear it works :) Will the package be downloadable from the official repositories?

I've added this to our FAQ page, I guess as long as versioning or an automatic check resource check is not introduced, it'll be a more common question. :-)

Hi Akien!

thanks for trying sumwars! If you had a previous installation of sumwars, please delete your .cfg files in the .sumwars folder.
They'll be regenerated automatically and should point to the right directories. Our file structure for CEGUI files has change quite a bit in this release.

This reminds me again to introduce some sort of versioning to the config files.

Ok, maybe I'll jut name it Ring 1 and Ring 2. Off-hand doesn't make sense for us as we don't have such a concept in game. Our warriors can't dual wield weapons.
Maybe just shield hand? Its occupied automatically when a two handed weapon is equipped.

Story / Main quest - missing the red line
« on: March 29, 2014, 06:52:19 PM »
Hey all,

I'm miss something like a guide quest that leads through the main story line. The problem is, when you start in the merc camp and completed "A friend in need" and "Maylons grave" you don't have a hint what to do next. You'll simply walk from level to level until you find a new quest. A simple quest like speak with "this person" in "this level" should already be enough. If somebody who is more familiar with the story line, could tell me what the quest should be, I can implement it.

I took a look at this bug in Redmine:

Its not really a bug but more like a different point of view.
Currently it's displaying the equipped item from the avatar's point of view which is opposite to the players point of view.
I could switch the the item slots and this behavior will be changed. This should be a team decision. What makes more sense for you?

General / Re: Precompiled windows packages

Ok, test 2 is online: ( 7z package )
The textsizes have been adjusted and everything should now be better readable.

I've also uploaded the installer:
Please install the package, play the game and uninstall. The .sumwars folder should be deleted if you hit yes when the uninstaller asks to.
Seems to work pretty well on my machine.
