Current workaround: create a new user with only latin letters. Then run sumwars as that user by holding the shift key and right-click sumwars.exe and select "run as user..."
I'm unsure if this works with windows home basic.

"Compiler error: invalid parameters in combat.particle(21)" (combat can also be replaced by monster and spells)
is a normal "error". The current policy is to ignore them and try to fix them later. The game should work anyways.
I don't know why the game doesn't work. Can you please attach the log-files found in that .sumwars folder. Thank you.

Ogre cannot write the file "c:\users\Gérôme\.sumwars\ogre.cfg" did you make sure sumwars can write to that .sumwars folder?

Hello Tyrant, I figure your username is "Gérôme" try to create a folder called "c:\users\Gérôme\.sumwars"
I attached a batch file which will do it for you. You might need to run it as administrator.
Copy the cfg files there and ensure the folder is writeable.
Or create plugins.cfg:

PluginFolder=Your sumwars folder

For now you could try to create the folder sumwars is looking for. just copy the path from the console and then move the .sumwars folder there. that should work for now.
I have created Issue #43 for this problem.

OpenID won't be supported by our logins for various reasons:
  • I don't want to support the free giving away of personal identity
  • especially not for google
  • I can't see how OpenID makes it safer to use an untrusted system
  • It wouldn't work with our login integration of forum, wiki and mantis
  • Forum Login doesn't send the password in readable form. wiki and mantis unfortunately do it tho. I will try to fix this.

To watch the process you need to use "ls -a" or "ls -a .hg" as the checkout goes to the .hg subfolder which is hidden.
Or you can call "du -sb" once in a while to see how big the directory got yet.
No error report and 40 minutes sound like it succeeded...

in general this is a nice idea, but Christmas is bad timing. Everyone is at home with family and friends, every evening is something else and it barely changes till January. I will have some time between Christmas and the end of the year. Who has a nice fast internet which we can connect on a port for hosting?

I would also propose to have the Tilde Key (~) as the default map key, instead of "M". But other than that, map design is nice; I'm also against rotating the camera.
Those keys are chosen to match the first letter of the function.. Map, Inventory, Character, Party... I think that is a good and common way to do it. And my question is: which key is the "~ Key"? Either on an English or German Keyboard layout (QWERTY/Z) it isn't a key...
