Getting started
If you want to take part in the developement of the story, a good point to start would be to make contact with the story team (anyone from the story section of the credits). You can also read the backround threads in the Forum to get a feel for the world Summoning Wars is set in.
Useful tools
To help with the story you need virtually nothing but a vivid imagination. Some skill with words comes in handy, as does knowledge of fantasy literature, films, games etc.
Format and quality standards
No set format exists at the moment. I prefer outlines for quests similar to theatre plays: Actors saying something and stage directions. They are easy to read and easy to temper with.
We are looking for a story that developes believable. It may have twists, even very surpising ones, but it should always be logical and never "it's a game - you know it's gonna happen anyway, so let's just fight". Another point is that the world is dark and the heroes are... well, not that heroic, but try to refrain from excessive violence for violences sake. Branded Ones are direct and can be merciless, but they are not cruel.
Of course your story additions should fit in with the rest of the existing story and the background.
Examples and tutorials
For examples of quest/story developement see the threads in the story forum.
Test your additions in-game
There is no quick way to test story additions ingame. The fastest way is to get yourself a scripter or start scripting and add it that way. Other then that you'll have to wait until the scripting team comes around to insert your addition.
