sumwars has a lot of nice music but I noticed that sound effects lack a lot. For example in the tutorial when the player falls, there is no sound connected to that event.

I think these little sound samples add a lot of immersion to the game. Since I never worked in this area I would be quite interested to make some samples for sumwars. Could this perhaps be the focus of some release? has a lot of base material usually under CC-BY license, I would probably use audacity or a similar tool to process them. I would release all the settings and audacity project files under CC-BY-SA and make scripts that "compile" the resulting ogg sounds.

What do you think?

Yes, I think that focusing in one stuff per release is a good way to have it well done =)

A lot of sounds are great! and we need ambient sounds, like:
Wind, frogs, birds, rain, fire. etc =)

Here i found some interesting sounds:

Hi folks,
In tandem with the course of Issue Ticket #03--How to handle ambient sound effects in the game, should we begin gathering a palette of appropriately-licensed ambient sound effects so that when dezGusty implements the feature we are ready to use it?

We already have a nice list of available soundeffects listed in this thread. We can create a Gdrive spreadsheet document and assemble the in a more organized manner. But I agree, that more soundeffects need desperately :))
