At a request from Psycho I'm (finally) posting some things that are special about the places that the party will visit so that banners can be derived from them. If you're interested say something here, because Psycho will also work in this area.

The Council of Summoners (I believe we settled for a banner already?)

The Royal Family of Aisen
  • they hail from a line of famous warlords, before they became royalty
  • said to have a pact with dragons and possibly even dragon blood

Medair
  • the capital
  • close ties with the royal family
  • the cultural, intellectual and economic center of Aisen

Joringsbridge
  • located on the big trading route between Medair, Dwarfenwall and Dhabi Kurad
  • a common stop for travellers, since it's a day's walk away from Medair

Dwarfenwall (there's nothing to see, move along)

Copper Rock
  • A hamlet clinging to it's mining past, since there really isn't anything anymore

Hi, this is going pretty good =)
However i would like to add some points to it.

A flag doesn't need to have a draw inside. It could be made of couloured strips.
A national/royalty symbols doesn't need to be in the flag.

Seems that you are getting mad trying to put some meaning into it, but in reality most of the flags just exist to difference each other in the battle.
Sometimes  symbols have meanings. But most of the time they were added after-creation.

I would like to put some examples.

Flag of scotland

Another version of the flag

Oldie coat of arms of scotland

Argentinian flag

Argentinian coat of arms

As a conclusion: the coat of arms doesn't need to be similar to the flag and viceversa, however both can share some elements.
A flag could be a few Strips.
The coat of arms doesn't have to be in the flag.
Both are different things.
The coat of arms is mostly placed in shields and armors.
